Sunday Round Up – Pastor Joel Dorman
22nd June 2026

This morning carried a weighty simplicity — a call back to what is pure, what is true, and what actually sustains us. Pastor Joel opened with a reminder that the pure Word of God is not shaped by our opinions, emotions, or the noise of the world. It is flawless truth from the Source Himself.
“Every word of God is flawless; He is a shield to those who take refuge in Him.” Proverbs 30:5
If the Word is flawless, then the question becomes painfully practical:
What are we taking in when we feel exposed?
Are we feeding on good ideas, or on pure truth?
Are we drawing strength from earthly facts, or from the unshakeable reality of God’s promises?
Joel reminded us that “Greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world.” We walk around defeated while carrying the very Spirit of the Sovereign King. The Cross has already dealt with everything — every fear, every battle, every unknown. We simply haven’t seen the fullness yet because God is not bound to our timeline.
So why do we panic when things “go wrong” in our eyes? Why do our words contradict what we say we believe?
Joel didn’t soften it: Are we hypocrites? Yes — because we say we trust God, yet we stress, fear, and spiral. But God is forming us into people who are single‑minded, not tossed between two opinions. He is aligning our mouths with our faith.
We are living in a generation reaping the fruit of hopelessness, criticism, anger, frustration, bitterness, and pride. But God is dragging His people out of the Well of Contention and into the Well of More Than Enough.
Crave the Pure Word Again
Joel took us to 1 Peter 2:2, where Peter urges believers to long for the pure spiritual milk of the Word — like newborn babies whose entire existence depends on it.
Some believers think they are “mature,” yet they’ve forgotten how to crave the Word. But the Word is nourishment. It is sustenance. It is the anchor in the storm. It is where we are found when we feel lost.
We cannot walk in truth if we are feeding on earthly facts. We cannot show the character of Christ if we are consuming the world’s arguments more than God’s promises.
Joel said it plainly: Switch off the TV and open the Word. The promises of God change everything.
Trials will come — but He is faithful. Not because of anything we can achieve, but because faithfulness is His nature. The pure Word motivates us to live lives that please Him.
A Call to Endurance
Paul’s words in 2 Timothy 2:3:
“Endure suffering along with me, as a good soldier of Christ Jesus.”
The narrow path is not the easy path, but His grace empowers us to endure and even thrive. Seasons shift — some heavy, some joyful — but He is sovereign over them all.
A good soldier does not entangle himself in civilian affairs. Roman soldiers lived with single‑minded focus, and Paul saw this as a picture of the Christian life. Let your “yes” be yes. Keep your eyes on Him. Take in His Word and let your mouth speak from that truth.
We cannot drink from the Lord’s cup and the cup of demons (1 Corinthians 10:21).
We cannot serve two masters (Matthew 6:24).
We cannot waver between two opinions (1 Kings 18:21).
No wonder we are exhausted — divided hearts drain strength.
God is calling us to follow Him wholeheartedly. He will deal with the baggage. Anxiety and fear are driven by false narratives, but perfect love casts out fear. Counter every lie with the pure truth of His Word.
Learning to Love
“We love because He first loved us.” 1 John 4:19
We cannot claim to love God while withholding love from others. It is a journey — a process — but the Word shapes us into people who love well.
If you’re tired of going in circles, lay it at His feet. Use the weapons He has given you: communion, praise, prayer, counsel, honesty. Don’t hide. He has seen it all.
“God, help us love in a way that pleases You.”
Father’s Day – A Call to Rise
Joel spoke directly to the fathers — present and future. God is raising men who will stand, protect, pastor, strengthen, and speak life. Children are an inheritance, and God is adding to His kingdom.
“Start children off on the way they should go…” Proverbs 22:6
This is the picture of fatherhood: steady, intentional, present.
Deuteronomy 6:7 calls fathers to teach diligently — in the house, on the road, morning and night. The generations ahead depend on men who are active, stable, and anchored in the Word.
Be encouraging, not dictating. Be a living example. Let negativity fall away as the Word trains your hands for war (Psalm 144:1).
Know when to move, when to attack, and when to stand still. Your duty is to point your children to the pure Word — but you must know it yourself to teach it.
A Story of God’s Faithfulness
Pastor John Powell shared the remarkable story of Hugh Skelton — a man who survived three plane crashes, major operations, and heart problems. He wasn’t expected to live past 20. Yet in his 80s, when surgeons opened him for a heart operation, the problem had vanished.
God prepares a table in the presence of every problem — health, finances, fear, or attack. He gives us authority over every situation.
And when you set out to follow Him, you can be sure of resistance. You know you’re doing something right when the enemy pushes back.
Prophetic Word: “The Longest Day”
Today marks the longest day of the year — and John shared a prophetic statement:
"We have reached the longest stretch, the greatest delay. But from today, the sun begins to turn."
A new season has begins. No more delay.
It has felt like being held back — like an elastic band twisted tighter and tighter. But it was preparation for the moment God says:
“Off you go.”
The sense of release is tangible. Let’s see what God does next.
