The Tabernacle of Moses- Part 1

A Journey Into the Presence of God

Part 1 — The Pattern That Leads to Glory

Based on the YouTube teaching series “The Tabernacle” by Pastor John Powell

Rediscovering the Tabernacle of Moses

For many believers, the tabernacle of Moses is one of those biblical subjects we know about but rarely explore. It sits quietly in the pages of Exodus — detailed, ancient, and often overlooked. Yet hidden in this Old Testament structure is one of the most breathtaking revelations of Jesus Christ and the Kingdom of Heaven.

This blog series is based on the YouTube teaching The Tabernacle by Church on the Move — a five‑episode journey that uncovers the treasure buried in these ancient blueprints. If you want to watch the full teaching, you can find it on their YouTube channel.

But here, we’re going to walk through the pattern slowly, reflectively, and devotionally — because this pattern is not just historical.

It is transformational.

Moses on the Mountain — A Heavenly Pattern Revealed

When Moses ascended Mount Sinai for forty days, God didn’t simply give him commandments. He gave him a model — a heavenly pattern.

As the teaching puts it:

This wasn’t Moses’ imagination. It wasn’t borrowed Egyptian architecture. It was a divine replica of what exists in heaven.

God said, “Make it exactly as I show you.”

Why?

Because the tabernacle is a shadow of heavenly reality.

Jesus prayed, “Let Your kingdom come, on earth as it is in heaven.”

The tabernacle is that prayer in physical form.

The Three Realms — A Map of Heaven

The tabernacle is divided into three parts:

1. The Outer Court — First Heaven

The earthly realm. The world we live in. The place of sacrifice and cleansing.

2. The Holy Place — Second Heaven

The spiritual realm. The place of warfare, revelation, and breakthrough.

3. The Holy of Holies — Third Heaven

The throne room of God. The realm of glory.

As John Powell says in the teaching:

This is not abstract theology.

This is a roadmap for your spiritual life.

The First Stop: The Altar of Sacrifice

The moment you step through the gate, you encounter the altar of sacrifice — a large bronze-covered wooden structure where burnt offerings were consumed.

This is a prophetic picture of the cross.

John explains:

The blood of the animal was poured out at the base of the altar.

Jesus’ blood flowed down the cross into the ground.

The altar points to Christ.

The sacrifice points to Christ.

The blood points to Christ.

And this is where every believer begins. This was meant for you but Jesus took your place.

The Cross Must Stay Central - We never “move on” from the cross. We only move deeper into its meaning. As the teaching says:

“But the cross is not the end of the journey. It is the beginning.”

The tabernacle invites us to step forward — into cleansing, into revelation, into worship, into glory.

A Journey, Not a Monument

The tabernacle is not a static structure.

It is a process.

A pattern.

A pathway.

It shows us how to move from:

•          salvation

•          to cleansing

•          to spiritual authority

•          to intimacy

•          to the throne room of God

This is the journey we’ll take in this blog series.

Coming Next: The Laver — Where Forgiveness Becomes Freedom

In the next post, we’ll explore the laver — the place of cleansing, reflection, and forgiveness. It’s one of the most challenging and liberating parts of the entire pattern.

And it might just change your life.
